Rafal y la música, en el corazón de la Vega Baja

Las pequeñas dimensiones de un municipio como Rafal no son óbice para que este no pueda contar con una programación cultural a la altura de otras localidades con mayor población: es de vital importancia contar con una variedad de eventos y actividades que permitan a los habitantes del municipio disfrutar y estimular sus inquietudes intelectuales.

Además de teatro, cine o deportes, destacan aquellas actividades relacionadas con la música. Y es que Rafal siempre ha sido una localidad muy vinculada a este arte, puesto que no hay festividad en la que no tome parte la banda municipal Arte Musical con sus actuaciones. Y siempre, sin faltar, tanto sus vecinos como los habitantes de localidades vecinas acuden con gusto a las representaciones, siempre llenando las butacas.

Por este motivo, desde la Concejalía de Cultura se fomentan actuaciones musicales de todo tipo: bandas sonoras, flamenco, coral, música procesional o zarzuela… El objetivo es ofrecer una pluralidad de estilos y dar visibilidad a todos los tipos de música, que de otro modo, sería complicado ofrecer. Es así como desde este área del Ayuntamiento se ha impulsado la primera edición del Ciclo de Música de Cámara “Villa de Rafal”, con una programación repleta de actuaciones durante todo el mes de noviembre.

La música de cámara es la que está compuesta para un reducido grupo de instrumentos, cuyo origen procede de los lugares en los que ensayaban pequeños grupos de músicos durante la Edad Media y el Renacimiento: habitaciones no muy grandes, denominadas “cámaras”. Y a pesar de no haberse realizado en una cámara, sino en el auditorio municipal ‘Arte Musical’, este ciclo de representaciones ha contado con una gran acogida entre los rafaleños y rafaleñas amantes de la música.

Así, este festival, además de contar con la participación de músicos de origen rafaleño, como el director Sixto Herrero, supuso también la presencia de la Orquesta Sinfónica de la ciudad de Torrevieja.

Podríamos decir entonces de Rafal que es un pequeño lugar en en corazón de la Vega Baja, con un corazón también dedicado a apreciar la música y la cultura.

Rafal and music, in the heart of the Vega Baja

The small size of a municipality like Rafal does not mean that it cannot have a cultural programme on par with other towns with a larger population: it is very important to have a variety of events and activities that allow the inhabitants of the municipality to enjoy themselves and stimulate their intellectual interests.

In addition to theatre, cinema and sports, activities related to music stand out. Rafal has always been a town closely linked to this art, as there is no festivity in which the municipal band Arte Musical does not take part with its performances. And always, without fail, both its neighbours and the inhabitants of near towns are always happy to attend the performances, always filling the seats from the ‘Arte Musical’ auditorium.

For this reason, the Department of Culture promotes musical performances of all kinds: famous soundtracks, flamenco, choirs, processional music or zarzuela? The aim is to offer a variety of styles and give visibility to all types of music, which would otherwise be difficult to enojy. This is how this area of the Town Council has promoted the first edition of the “Villa de Rafal” Chamber Music Cycle, with a programme full of performances throughout the month of November.

Chamber music is composed for a small group of instruments, whose origin comes from the places where small groups of musicians rehearsed during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance: not very large rooms, called “chambers”. And despite the fact that it was not performed in a chamber, but in the municipal auditorium ‘Arte Musical’, this series of performances has been very well received by music lovers in Rafal.

Thus, this festival, in addition to the participation of musicians of Rafal origins such as the conductor Sixto Herrero, also involved the presence of the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Torrevieja.

We could say then that Rafal is a small place in the heart of the Vega Baja, with a heart also dedicated to appreciate music and culture all year round.
